The Display of Miracles.
Chötrul Düchen, also known as Chonga Choepa or the Butter Lamp Festival, is one of the four Buddhist festivals commemorating four events in the life of the Buddha.
This festival celebrates the Buddha’s display of miracles for fifteen days in order to bolster the devotion of disciples.
The leaders of India's six main philosophical schools challenged the Buddha to a contest of miraculous powers.
The Buddha displayed a different miracle each day for fifteen days, and, utterly defeating his opponents, inspired many individuals to follow the Dharma.
On this day the effects of positive or negative ations are multiplied ten million times. |
